Other Considerations
These are potential supplements that I currently have reservations about. Noted here for potentially no other reason than to remind myself that I have looked into them and, at least for now, dismissed them.
DMAE
Why? Possibly produces choline in the brain (may not) after passing blood-brain barrier. May have benefits for mood, alertness, ADHD. May have life extending properties, or it may shorten it (Yikes!)
Acetylcarnitine
Why? May provide protection to brain cells as well as other potential health benefits. However, long term effects on human health are not known…
Sulbutiamine
Why? Possibly helps with cronic fatigue syndrome and memory. No known negative side effects at recommended dosage. (This is essentially thiamin, of which I’ll already be taking nearly 2000% of the RDA.)
Pyritinol
Why? Not much information on Wikipedia. Further research is needed if available. (Similarly to Sulbutiamine this is a B vitamin (B6), of which I will be taking 1500% of the RDA.)
Picamilon / GABA
Why? GABA by itself likely has little to no effect due to limited ability to traverse blood/brain barrier. Picamilon may help with mood/calmness/anti-anxiety. No good source available and further research needed.
